How It Works ?
Watch the Video or read below for details...
First you will notice there is a device that you connect between your towing vehicle and the trailer or caravan. With a plug on one end, socket on the other end, you can't get the connection wrong. Simple plug & play !
Secondly you will notice there is a device that you plug in to a conventional cigarette lighter socket normally found in most towing vehicles. Simply plug this in to the cigarette socket.
Once you have connected and plugged in the units, this is where the magic happens.
Firstly, providing your cigarette lighter socket is working, when you turn on the ignition key and power goes to the cigarette lighter socket, you should see the Receiver Unit illuminate a Red L.E.D. This is to alert you that power is coming through the cigarette socket as expected.
Next turn on your side or driving lights switch on your towing vehicle. The reason for this is because the main unit
at the rear of your towing vehicle and the trailer / caravan requires power and this is where it gets the 12v electricity from. What should happen is another illumination a White L.E.D. should be seen on the receiver unit, but also if you look at the rear of your towing vehicle coupling, you should also see a White L.E.D illuminating on the main unit. Your trailer or caravan running lights (rear red, side amber, front white lights should be seen on). This shows you that the main unit is powered on and it is monitoring the current to the electric brake internal coils. Inside the towing vehicle the White L.E.D. is also to tell you in real time that the main unit is powered on and monitoring the current as said above.
Whilst you are travelling this White L.E.D. also acts to let you know that the connection to the trailer or caravan is still ok, it is still providing power not only to the main unit but also to your tail lights. It will not tell you if your tail lights have blown. But if your travelling and the white L.E.D. stops illuminating, it could be a sign that the coupling plug has disconnected or a fuse has blown in the towing vehicle. (note: the main unit is extremely low power drawn and unlikely a cause to blow any fuses)
Finally.... Each time the electric brake internal coils are operated it draws current Amps through a blue wire that is monitored by the main unit which then transmits to the receiver inside the towing vehicle as well as illuminating a Blue L.E.D. on the main unit as well as sounding audible buzzer. Inside the towing vehicle the White L.E.D will stop illuminating whilst a Blue L.E.D. illuminates as well as a Audible buzzer sounds.
So if you press the towing vehicle brake pedal or you press the Red Arc (or other electric brake controller) or you have installed a Electronic Sway Controller you will be notified in real time that current amps are going to your electric brake internal coils to apply braking.
This equipment is compatible with said equipment above because of how it monitors the electricity wires rather than connects in-between it. Its like having a set of eyes watching without needing to touch to see what's happeneing.
NOTE
^Works with both single and dual axel trailers and caravan electric brakes.
*Simply choose the correct plug type, Providing three of the most common plug type connections.
** Wireless within suitable range for you to connect the main unit connected at the rear of your vehicle and trailer/caravan and the receiver unit that is plugged in to the cigarette socket in the vehicle console. The wireless part is the communication between the main unit and the receiver unit but both still need to be powered as described.
^^ Receiver unit is not water proof however the main unit that is connected outside at the rear of the vehicle and trailer/caravan is water resistant from the weather, however it is not intended to be submersed in water and should be avoided.
